August Goals

Last month, I started writing out my goals for the month to keep me accountable. Marathon training wasn’t too far off, so I figured it was a good idea to start thinking about what I needed to do to be successful with my training. Since this was my first time setting monthly goals, I went easy on myself. So, how’d I do?

  1. Run 50 miles. This works out to about 13 miles per week, which should be totally doable. —  Just barely made this one, I ran 59 miles in August. Not too bad, but I know I can do better.
  2. Stick to a consistent workout schedule – cross train three days, run three days, rest one day. – Um, lets just say I need to keep working on this one.  There were a lot more rest days and very few cross training days this month.
  3. Do at least 2 runs over five miles. This makes me sad, I used to run five miles as my maintenance run, it was easy peasy! Need to make that a habit again. – I did five runs that were over five miles — yay!

I stuck to two of my three goals, but there is definitely some room for improvement, especially since I went easy on myself with them!  This month, I want to repeat the one goal I didn’t stick to (with a slight change, sticking to my training plan) and set two new ones.  I’ve been thinking about it and I don’t want to pigeon-hole myself into just setting fitness related goals, so one of my goals this month is related to my sweet pups.  I hope you don’t mind! :)

  1. Stick to a consistent workout schedule – do the workouts that my training plan calls for.  No bailing because I don’t feel like it.
  2. Run 100 miles.  Double what my goal was for July, but should be doable if I stick to number 1.
  3. Not at all workout related, but spend more time with Buddy & Sammy.  Do some fun things for them, buy them some of their favorite treats, take them for lots of walks.

How did July go for everyone else?  Did you set goals and stick to them?

Do you have goals for August?  Let’s hear them!

(Please forgive the lack of photos, our computer died and we had to get a new one and I’m still trying to get everything transferred over off of the old hard drive!)
