I’m super late with this race recap and I’d love to say that it’s going to be worth the wait.. but, well, it’s probably not.

The weekend that Braden has been waiting for is finally here — his birthday weekend!
I’m not sure how this happened, but it is the last day of school. This year has absolutely flown by, I feel like it should still be January. I can’t believe how much the kids have grown in the last year – I guess when you see them every day it’s hard to notice, but looking at pictures from the first day of school compared to the last day of school, it’s crazy.
This was probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a race. I’ve been really looking forward to the Florida Striders Memorial Day 5K for a few reasons — some friends (Jenn from Runs with Pugs and Devon from The Food Bitch Blog) were running with us, our kids were running the 1-mile fun run, and it was the first race I was running against with my brother.
I haven’t posted much lately.. maybe you’ve noticed, maybe you haven’t. When the bombings at the Boston Marathon happened, I kind of pulled back from social media and unplugged a bit. I felt like I was attacked in a community where I’ve always felt safe and welcome. I was having a really hard time processing my feelings and figuring out how I felt. I spent a lot of time watching the news, glued to the television for some reason why this happened. I have a hard time with not understanding why.
After Braden’s race was over, we hopped on the monorail and made our way to the Magic Kingdom. Our first stop, as always, was the Buzz Lightyear ride. We rarely make it out of Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, all of B’s favorite rides are there. He was insistent that he needed to take Grandma and Grandpa on the Buzz Lightyear ride and teach them how to shoot the Z’s, to defend our galaxy from the Evil Emperor Zurg!
Happy 29th Birthday, Damian!
So, you’re probably wondering why this is showing up now.. in March.. three months after Christmas. I randomly found it hanging out in my drafts folder and realized I never posted it. Oops!
Merry Christmas Eve!
I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday!
