Do you ever have those days where you just wonder if you’re invisible? I don’t know what was going on yesterday, but I seriously felt like I was. To explain, I need to rewind a bit though.. to this..
Just about a week and a half ago (heyyy look at me getting a post up in a timely manner!!), Adam and I loaded up the car and were headed to Orlando for the 2015 Walt Disney World Marathon weekend. I debated which I should post first – a general overview of what we did over the weekend or a recap of the race. I decided to talk about the weekend first. As soon as we arrived at the Wide World of Sports, I met up with Andrea and we headed over to the Cigna Blogger Cook-Off. Cigna is the official sponsor of the Walt Disney World Marathon and I was really excited when I received the email inviting me to the event.
This was the last free weekend we had before the blackout dates for our season passes to Disney started, so we took off Friday and made a long weekend out of it! I’m a little bummed that we won’t be able to visit the parks over the summer since the kids love it so much, but I’m thinking the crowds and heat would make it miserable so maybe we aren’t missing out on too much.
After some time in the ice bath and a long, hot shower, we were off to the Magic Kingdom. Yes, I know, there are three other parks at Disney World.. my son, however, doesn’t care. We’ve taken him to Hollywood Studio’s, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom and the entire time we’re there (minus when we’re on Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios), he is asking to go to the Magic Kingdom. We finally gave up and just take him to his happy place.. over, and over, and over..
After Braden’s race was over, we hopped on the monorail and made our way to the Magic Kingdom. Our first stop, as always, was the Buzz Lightyear ride. We rarely make it out of Tomorrowland and Fantasyland, all of B’s favorite rides are there. He was insistent that he needed to take Grandma and Grandpa on the Buzz Lightyear ride and teach them how to shoot the Z’s, to defend our galaxy from the Evil Emperor Zurg!
We were up bright and early this morning to make it to ESPN’s Wide World of Sports for the Disney Kids’ Races. We signed Braden up for the 200m dash and he was really excited to get started!
We packed up this morning and headed south, to the most Magical Place on Earth! We decided after taking Braden to Disney for the first time, that we wanted to do an annual week(ish) long trip in November.. the weather is great and there were hardly any crowds. We skipped it last year since Mackenzie was so tiny, so we’ve been looking forward to this trip for a while!
I’m a little bit neurotic. This isn’t a surprise to those who know me well. While technically, this is Mackenzie’s first visit to Disney World and the Magic Kingdom, we’re not going to call it that. We’re calling it a little preview. You see, her first trip is going to be filled with cute Disney outfits (maybe even matching family shirts! ha!) and character meals, several days in the parks, fireworks, parades.. you see where I’m going?
