Friday Five – Things I am Looking Forward To

It’s Friday again, which means I am linking up with Courtney, Cynthia and Mar for the Friday Five.  This week there’s no theme, so I’m going to share five things that I am looking forward to.

Sisters Weekend

My mom is one of nine kids and one of her sisters came up with the idea for doing a sisters weekend every few months to give them a good excuse to spend more time together and go on little mini-vacations.  They invited their daughters and daughters-in-law as well so there could be a whole gaggle of us if we all show up!  The first one is next month and they’re all coming here!  I can’t wait, I get to see a few of my cousins too, including one of them who is expecting her first little one!

Disney for Spring Break

Finding time to take the kids to Disney these days is hard.  We can’t pull Braden out of school to go and our weekends are usually jam packed.  Adam and I were trying to figure out another time to go soon and decided to take a few days off next month and head down during Braden’s spring break.  I booked our fast passes this morning and we’re doing lunch with Donald Duck in Animal Kingdom — can’t wait!!

Races — Gate & Run Rabbit Run

Like I mentioned earlier, I have several races on my calendar but the two I’m looking forward to most are the Run Rabbit Run 10K and the Gate River Run.  The Gate is a staple in most Jacksonville runners race schedule, it’s the national 15K championship and is SO much fun.  Even Braden is getting in on the action this year and running the kids race!  Right after that is the Run Rabbit Run 10K & 5K.  Several of my friends ran this one last year and said it was great.  We’re running it with some friends this year (it runs through their neighborhood, how nice is that?!) so it should be a blast.  Plus, they have Chick-fil-a at the finish line!  Mmm.. chicken biscuits!

Bachelor Finale

Yes, I’m one of those people who loves watching The Bachelor.  This season has been interesting and I’m so looking forward to watching the Women Tell All show on Monday, then the finale next Monday!  In previous seasons, I tried really hard to stay away from the spoilers because I liked watching it all happen on screen, but this year I’ve been reading Reality Steve and knew who won before it even started. (No worries, I won’t spoil it!) It’s been really interesting watching it from an entirely different perspective.  I don’t know which way I prefer.

Easter

I love Easter weekend.  Our neighborhood hosts an egg hunt for the kids (and grandpas) and we usually spend the rest of the weekend outside since it’s usually so nice — playgrounds, going to the splash park, grilling out.  I’m realizing that relaxing weekends are SO much nicer than running around like crazy people.

She’s cute even when she’s screaming!

Please tell me I am not the only one that thinks the pictures of little ones screaming with Santa and the Easter Bunny are adorable?? I feel bad that they get upset, but it’s just so darn cute to look back on! Anyway, I’m off to snuggle with B and watch a movie until dinner time. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

  2. That Easter Bunny picture is adorable! I love the idea of a sisters weekend. I don’t have any sisters, but I my friends are like my sisters. I need to convince them to do this.

    1. I don’t have sisters either, or even a sister-in-law (my brother and brother-in-law are apparently going to be bachelors forever) so it’s nice that they include the daughters and daughters-in-law in on the fun! A girls weekend with friends sounds wonderful too!

  3. Easter with kids would be so fun. I miss egg hunts.

    1. Disney is usually pretty easy for us – we have annual passes and try to go at least once a month. Our little ones are disney addicts!! We usually go on weekends when it’s slow and the crowd calendars are projecting it to be busy when we’re there, I’m interested to see what a busy day is like.. hopefully not miserable!

Gate is the race we were talking about, it’s next Saturday (March 14th) and you should DEFINITELY come run it!!
