Braden’s Last Day of First Grade

I started to title this post “Time is a Jerk”, but decided maybe that wasn’t the best idea.  It’s true though, even moreso the older I get.  I swear having kids has made time fly by at warp speed.

Roughly ten months passed since these pictures were taken and I cannot believe how much Braden has grown.

It’s not just me, right? You guys see it too, right?

First grade was wonderful for Braden and he learned so much.  He went from a kid who despised reading, to one who will happily sit in his room for an hour reading all on his own.  All because he wants to, not because he has to.

He learned how to add double digit numbers together and often tells me random things that blow my mind.  A few days ago, he was telling me all about different species’ of animals.  I don’t think I knew the word species when I was six.  Then, he told me all about how Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity.. I am pretty sure I mastered the “plays well with others” and “cuts with scissors” tasks in 1st grade.  The stuff kids learn now is crazy.

Braden is enjoying his summer so far and is absolutely not looking forward to second grade.  I’m pretty sure he’d go to Cub Scout camp year round if I let him.  More on that next week! :)
