Review: Frozen Bean

I was super excited when the folks at Frozen Bean contacted me asking if I’d be interested in trying out their products.  I’m a coffee-holic, almost to an embarrassing degree.  Literally the first thing I do in the morning is walk from my bed to the keurig, to start my coffee.  I don’t function without it.  So trying out some new coffee goodies?  Right up my alley!  Here’s what they have to say about their products:

The Frozen Bean is a leading manufacturer of specialty desserts and beverages for the food service industry.  We use only the finest ingredients sourced from around the world, delivering products that far exceed the market in taste and quality. Our research staff has developed delectable blends of specialty desserts and beverages that are simple to make and as your own gourmet treats.

And here’s what I have to say — I loved them!  I’ve mentioned a few times how chaotic life is around here these days, so the fact that the Frozen Bean drinks are quick and easy to make is really great for me.  They’re a lot more cost effective than my normal <insert coffee shop name here> habit.  With the prices on Amazon, it’s less than a dollar a cup.  I’m not a math whiz, but that’s something like 400% cheaper than what I pay for my iced raspberry mocha at.. well, that coffee shop I didn’t mention :)  Another big perk?  They aren’t crazy high in calories.  Most of the packets I tried had under 200 calories, which is (oh here I go with my superb math skills again) like 200% less than my drink of choice.

Besides the fact that they taste really good, they also make it super easy for the not-so-creative types like me.  Each packet comes with mixing directions on back, which give you a few different ways to enjoy your drink.  It’s hot here, so I mostly stuck with the iced and blended options, sort of like a frappuccino.  My favorites were the ice blended coffees, which I mixed with ice and dark chocolate almond milk in the blender.

Here are the flavors I sampled:

Ice Blended Coffee:
Banana Mocha Latte – this one was my favorite!!
Caramel Mocha Latte
Peanut Butter Latte
Salted Toffee
Raspberry Mocha Latte
Sea Salt Caramel Latte

Chai:
Chocolate Chai
Raspberry Chai

Iced Teas:
Mango Green Tea
Strawberry Lemonade

If you’re not a fan of coffee, the Frozen Bean also offers drink mixes that you can use to make non-coffee ice blended beverages and smoothies.  My kids were a big fan of the Strawberry Lemonade.  We served it over ice in a big, insulated tumbler and they fought over who got to drink it.  Just a heads up on that one, it was a bit strong for our taste so we watered it down a bit more than the package suggested.   I drank the Mango Green Tea at work, so the kids didn’t get to try it.

The only beverage powder I haven’t tried yet is the Chocolate Chai, I’m planning to make it like a frappe, with the dark chocolate almond milk and blended with ice.  Honestly, I’ve kind of been hanging on to it because I don’t want them to all be gone!

You can find Frozen Bean products on Amazon, but I’m told that they will start selling directly to customers in the near future.
