July Goals

Okay, so to motivate myself to get out of my funk and back to training, I decided to start setting monthly goals for myself.  They may not always relate to running/fitness, but I’ve been slacking so much lately that I need to set some goals to get me back on track.  I’m sharing them here so that if I don’t stick to them, you can all fuss at me and tell me to knock it off with the excuses and get my toosh out there!  Marathon training isn’t that far off and I need to get back into decent running shape and build up my base to at least eight miles.

So, here are my July goals:

1.  Run 50 miles.  This works out to about 13 miles per week, which should be totally doable.

2.  Stick to a consistent workout schedule – cross train three days, run three days, rest one day.

3.  Do at least 2 runs over five miles.  This makes me sad, I used to run five miles as my maintenance run, it was easy peasy!  Need to make that a habit again.

Totally doable, right?  I think so.  Now, to do it!

What are your goals for this month?

What have you done to motivate yourself to get out there and run, when you’re just not feeling up to it?

Great goals! I just posted mine today too and have switched from a monthly to a weekly post just so I can stay on top of them more.

    • I’m still struggling with achilles tendonitis in my left heel too so while the time off has been mostly due to me being a bum, I know it’s at least been good for my foot. I think I’m going to start posting my weekly workout recaps again, that helped to hold me accountable. It’s hard to post one when I didn’t have anything to recap! :)

  3. Great goals! And totally doable! Get it!

One of my goals is to run 50 miles, too! I made the goal in the middle of June, so I think it’s actually to run them from 6/19 to 7/19, but same difference! I’ve been running consistently, but I really want to cross train more.

    • Good luck with your goal! Hopefully we can both hit 50, with some miles to spare!

What kind of cross training do you want to do?

      • Amy @ Long Drive Journey says:

I want to do more weight training. I do Pilates for core, which I love, but it doesn’t focus on arms as much as I’d like. Just gotta get my butt up and go to the gym!

Great goals! You can totally handle 50 miles! Go get it! And I just read your previous 5K recap, way to go! Even though you didn’t PR it still sounds like you maintained a great pace, had fun, and worked hard!

    • Thanks, Sarah! I should totally be able to do 50, I just have to get myself out of bed! I turned off my alarm without even realizing it this morning, I told my husband he needs to literally kick me out of bed!
