House Tour

I mentioned earlier this week that we’re selling our house.  If you follow me on twitter, you’re probably tired of hearing me freak out about showings and all of the oh-so-fun stuff that goes along with selling.  Sorry about that.  I try not to vent too much to my husband because I know he has the same fears that I do, so it all ends up coming out to my good friends and twitter buddies.

Anyway, I was really excited with the photos that the realtor’s photographer got of the house earlier this week, they kind of made me fall in love with our house all over again.  I think that sometimes when you’re in a place day in and day out, it’s hard to really appreciate it.  I really do love this house, it’s been good to us.  I wanted to share the house tour, but I can’t figure out how to link it without blasting our address all over the blog, so the still photos will have to do for now!  Enjoy!

When you come in, the dining room is directly to your right.  The wall to your left used to have an archway that opened into a formal living room, but we enclosed the wall and added a door to the room in the hall, then turned it into the kids playroom.  It works a lot better for us, but tends to confuse people since it’s not really a bedroom (no closet).  I have no clue what’s going on with the colors in this picture – the dining room is a deep burgundy and I promise the back of the door isn’t dirty!

The dining room – replacing that light fixture has been on my to-do list for a few years.  And let’s not talk about the fact that the picture frame has pictures of random people in it.  I’m a busy mom!

As you continue in the house, there’s a hallway to the left just past the entryway table.  If you turn in the hall and look to your left (back toward the front of the house), you see the kids playroom.

Directly in front of you is the guest bathroom.

And if you turn to the right and down the short hall, you run into the guest bedroom/office.

Going back out of the hallway, the foyer opens into the living room.  I love how bright and open it is, love having all of the windows to see the kids outside when they’re playing.

Going through the living room, you run into the breakfast area, right off of the kitchen.  Braden’s teddy was apparently having a snack while the photographer was here.  Oops.

Then you loop back around into the kitchen.  The doorway in the back of the kitchen goes into a hall that leads you back to the dining room, half bathroom, laundry room, and out to the garage.

The half bathroom, the one room in the house that we haven’t updated at all since we bought it.  Well, except for the new flooring.

At the end of the hall on the left is the laundry room.

Back at the foyer, the stairs are on the right just after you pass the archway into the dining room and before you get to the living room.  There’s also a closet there under the stairs that is HUGE.  Big perk for a pack rat sentimental person like me!

At the top of the stairs, you walk through double doors into our master bedroom and bathroom.

If you take a left at the top of the stairs, you’ll find Mackenzie’s room on the left.  Her bedroom windows look out over the back yard.

Just past Mackenzie’s room is the kids bathroom.

And then Braden’s room at the end of the hall, his windows look out over the drive way.  Funny story about his fan – it was there when we bought the house (eight years ago, before we were even engaged).  B’s room was a guest room for several years, until I got pregnant with Mackenzie.  The fan has been in there the whole time.  We’ve meant to exchange it, but he loves it now.

So that’s our house!  As of now, we’ve had two showings.  The first couple wanted the master bedroom on the first floor and to be on the golf course, so they made an offer on another house.  The second couple said the house was beautiful but weren’t sure about the playroom being the fourth bedroom.  It’s not, there are four others, so our realtor was reaching out to theirs today to see where the confusion was.  We may end up taking the desk out of the guest room/office in case it’s confusing.  I suppose we’ll see.

We are hoping for lots of showings and feedback this weekend!  If you see anything in the pictures that you think we could do to make the house more attractive, I’d love to hear it!

    1. Thanks, Lindy! I hope that someone else loves it too – we’ve had three showings so far and lots of compliments on it but no offers. Keeping my fingers crossed and trying not to get discouraged!

  2. You have such a beautiful home! It’s so light and bright, and that kids playroom looks like too much fun. And those bathrooms, they are HUGE! I may be a little jealous of those..both our bathrooms are tiny and cramped, especially the master.

I’m sure you will have no trouble at all selling your house, if you haven’t already!
