Week four of my Disney Marathon training plan is done! It wasn’t a perfect week, but I’m okay with that. I did the best I could (well, perhaps I could have run in the rain, but I really didn’t want to!). Last week in my training recap, I asked you guys about coming back from a LONG break and how I’ve been struggling with slower times and feeling like I really need walk breaks, even on shorter runs. I got a lot of really great advice from you guys, so thank you! I decided to start with my shorter weekday runs and just make myself run a mile without stopping.. and I did! I ended up running four actually! I did allow myself a little bit of a break at each mile to stretch out my legs and catch my breath, but I ran each mile with no walk breaks.. baby steps!!
Unfortunately, I only tried it out once. My week was shortened a bit since we left Friday after Braden got out of school to go to Disney for the Tower of Terror race weekend. Adam and I didn’t run, but Braden and Mackenzie did! I figure walking 8 + 5 miles around the Disney parks has to count for something though, right?
Disney Marathon Training Week 4
I planned to run three on Monday, but it was pouring. Not just a light rain, which I’d normally run in, but full on POURING. Instead, I got on our elliptical for 30 minutes. Wednesday, I did one of my favorite videos from MyYogaWorks. Their runners series is so great and so much more affordable than a gym or yoga studio membership. Thursday I decided to rest since I planned to run long on Friday since we were headed to Disney for the weekend with the kiddos. Friday morning I headed out for my long run – nine miles! It was rough and I was miserable (more on that later) but I got it done and between running and chasing the kids around Downtown Disney that night, I ended up covering almost 13.5 miles. Saturday morning we were up early for the Tower of Terror Kids races then spent the rest of the day at the Magic Kingdom and Sunday we spent the morning and early afternoon at Hollywood Studios, then drove home.

Hopefully I stick to the plan a little bit better this week. I really have no excuse because the weather is amazing! It was 59 here this morning!! Between the amazing temps, much lower humidity (only 44% right now), and new shoes, I’m really itching to get outside and run!
How did your training go last week? I’ll be out of town this weekend for my cousins baby shower and I have 10 miles scheduled for my long run this week. I’m trying to decide if I should do it Friday before we leave or Saturday morning. I love running in Bainbridge, but it’s supposed to start warming up.. decisions, decisions!
