Derby Cars, Laguna Beach & Laundry

This was one of those rare weekends where it felt like it lasted longer than two days.  A big part of that is probably because we pretty much stayed home all day Sunday, which is my least favorite weekend thing-to-do, but the kids wanted to do it so we did!

Saturday we had to run some errands to pick up new shoes for the kids and some last minute stuff for Adam.  He’s traveling for work this week and needed a few random things.  He hasn’t had to travel for work in a while, so it’ll be interesting to see how the kids handle it.

We got home and spent some time working on Braden’s car for the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby.

I’ve never participated in one of these so I’m not really sure what to expect.  The boys are really excited about it though, so it’s hard not to be excited with them.

Braden and Adam went over to my parents house and my dad helped them cut it out, then I helped him paint it.  B decided entirely on his own how he wanted to paint his car and what it should look like.  They just need to add the wheels and weights and its good to go!

The race is Saturday morning, so send lots of good thoughts his way! If his car wins, he gets to go compete against the winners from other packs in the district-wide derby.

Adam and the kids LOVE being home on weekends, so instead of going out for dinner on Saturday like we normally do, we ordered pizza and snuggled on the house and watched Big Hero 6.  Such a cute movie!

His flight left really early Sunday morning so he was up and gone before we woke up.  The kids slept in a bit and when they finally got up and moving, I told them it was their day and they could decide what we did all day.

All they wanted was lunch at Wendy’s and a “stay home day”.  I can handle that!

Yep, I’m wearing Braden’s shirt.  Apparently we can share clothes now.

They spent the day playing, watching a movie, and just relaxing.  I spent the day doing laundry and cleaning.

How do such little people make so much laundry?!

I hate putting laundry away.  Worst. Chore. Ever.

I worked on the curtains for the dining room too — you can kind of see them in the above picture.  They’re not done yet, but soon!!

I had to clean up this guy too after he got in the mud.  Again.

And I cleaned out a closet, snuggled the kiddos, went grocery shopping.. such a glamorous life!

While I was doing that, Adam was sending me this.. it’s the view from his room.  He’s in Laguna Beach for a conference for work.

Such a rough life he leads, huh?

After dinner, the kids asked to go see my parents.  B wanted to show grandpa his pinewood derby car and I wanted to check out the bookshelf that my dad is building me for our office.  It’s based off of this one from Ana White, but my dad doesn’t do plans so he’s doing his own thing and hopefully it’ll look something like that when he’s done.

So that was our weekend.  Apparently the kids were tired and really did need some down time because they both slept in this morning.  I managed to get them both up, fed, dressed, and to school on time in a good mood with no melt downs in less than an hour, so I rewarded myself with a trip to Starbucks.

Also, I feel like it’s my civic duty to share this with you tonight. I’m off to hunt down a box of Thin Mints to go with my Pinot Noir tonight while I watch the Women Tell All on the Bachelor!

Hope you’re having a wonderful Monday!

    1. I might have to take you up on that! Are you still running on Monday’s? I can’t go tonight but maybe next Monday — I think I might be able to hang with you for 3 miles, maybe.. :)

  1. I always stay in on Sundays, it is my catch up day.
