About Me

I’m Kristin.  I’m a mom and I run.  A mom on the run.. get it?  Yes, I’m a nerd too, and I’m okay with it.  :)

Let me back up a bit.  Before I was a mom, I was just Kristin.. and I didn’t run!  I met my husband, Adam, in September 2003 through a mutual friend. At the time, Adam worked for an IT company that was hiring. I had just graduated with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and was looking for a job. A mutual friend sent my resume to Adam and a few days later I went in for an interview and got the job. We worked together for a few months then started dating in July 2004. We spent most of the time then at the bars at the beach with our friends and co-workers – I have many fond memories of the Ritz and Lynches!  A few months later, Adam kicked out his roommates (sorry Allen & Carter – we still love you!) and I moved in with him. At the time, I had a contract on a townhouse. My dad nearly had a heart attack when I came home and told him I canceled the contract on my house so I could move in with a boy.  When you know though, you know. Luckily, I was right.

Will you marry me?

Adam proposed on June 30, 2005. I’d love to say that we were all dressed up and it was a lovely and wonderful night, but I would be lying. Adam had big plans for the proposal, but when the ring came in a week early he couldn’t wait to ask, so I was just home from the gym and gross and sweaty. At least I know he even loves me at my worst!

I went to work out with my mom after work and Adam went to pick up the ring, roses and a bottle of champagne, and then to ask my parents for their permission. He ran into my cousins at the liquor store and asked them to distract me for a bit. They had no clue what was going on, but went along with it. A little too well actually, a few hours later Adam called wondering what was taking so long and complaining that he was hungry, so I headed home. When I walked in the door, there was a trail of roses and rose petals leading up to our room, I opened the door and he was down on one knee with the most beautiful ring and asked me to be his wife. I didn’t say yes, instead I covered my mouth and started walking backwards in total shock until I almost fell down the stairs and he got up to stop me.  Typical klutzy Kristin. I finally recovered and said yes, of course!

I now pronounce you husband and wife!

Adam and I were married on April 22, 2006.  Our wedding day was the most amazing day of my life (or so I thought at the time!). The days leading up to it were some of he hardest for us, we were both stressed and exhausted, but it was 100% worth the headache and heartache. We had a beautiful wedding and were surrounded by our wonderful family and friends. I was so scared that something was going to go wrong, but our day was absolutely perfect. We had a bit of a scare since our ceremony was outside and there was a 60% chance of rain, but thankfully all of the rain cleared out about 2 hours before the ceremony and it turned out to be a gorgeous night. I thank God every day for giving me such a wonderful and loving husband. I really am a lucky girl.

Here comes the mom part..

We were blessed with our sweet baby boy in June 2008.  Braden has been the most amazing gift that Adam has ever given me. I watch them together and realize just how lucky I really am. Adam is such a wonderful and loving father. B has brought so much love and joy into our lives, I really cannot remember what life was like before he was here. Having a baby is the most amazing and wonderful thing that we have ever done – watching him thrive and grow has been so wonderful. I am thankful for all of the wonderful blessings in my life, but mostly for this amazing little guy that we created – he is perfect!

Our family is complete!

Our sweet girl was born in July 2011. I was so worried about how my heart was going to be able to love another baby the way I loved Braden. I didn’t think it was possible. But it is, it definitely is. Mackenzie has been such an amazing addition to our family. Aside from being adorable, she’s the sweetest and spunkiest little thing.  Braden adores “his baby” and cannot get enough of her.  Mackenzie already has her own little personality and is so much fun, she is the happiest baby I’ve ever met.  It’s hard to remember what life was like without her.  We finally feel like our little family is finally complete.

What about the running?

It seems I’m a bit of a talker (err.. typer?) and describing how I got my start with running turned this little “About Me” page into quite the novel.  If you’re curious about how I got started with running, check out My Running Story.  To see my upcoming races, PRs, and other fun running stuff, check out my Running page.  I’m working on a post about my training and what I’m up to now, I’ll link it here when it’s done!
