Granny Moore

Sarah Wilona Eakin Moore
March 24, 1930 – December 9, 2006

A million times we’ve needed you.
A million times we’ve cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place
No one could ever fill.

It broke our hearts to see you go,
But you didn’t go alone.
A part of us went with you
The day God took you home.

I lost my granny this weekend. Just before she left us, I leaned down and kissed her cheek and told her I loved her. I told her it was time for her to go – she had a lot to do to get Heaven ready for the rest of us. After not responding to us for days, she gave me the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen. A few minutes later she smiled twice more, shed a single tear, and was gone.

Thanks to my wonderful granny, I witnessed a miracle. She lived a long, hard, and wonderful life – she fought the good fight right up to the end. I know she’s in Heaven now looking down on us with joy in her heart and that beautiful smile on her face.

I love you granny, and I miss you so much. You’ll be in my heart forever.
